Ibn Jubayr

Arab traveler, born in Spain (q.v.), whose Travels include a vivid description of the first (in 1183-1185) of his two journeys by sea to Mecca aboard ships from Genoa (q.v.). Among the valuable information he supplies are descriptions of the Norman court in Palermo (qq.v.), Crusader-occupied Acre (q.v.), as well as comments on Byzantine relations with the Genoese.
